Save the Date | The Historic Minardi Day redoubles
After last June’s success that attracted more than seven thousand fans into the Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola, the preparations for the second edition of the Historic Minardi Day have already begun.
We renew the appointment with the history of the Minardi Team and Motorsport among the kerbs of the Santerno’s track that gave us a journey 30 years long, making us taste the flavours and the sounds of the V8, V10, and V12 coming from the 80s, from the 90s and from 2000s, ten years after the last F1 Grand Prix.
More than fifty single-seaters from Formula 1, along with Grand Touring cars, Formula 2, Formula 3, and F3000 animated the first edition, along with team-principal Carlo Minardi, the drivers, and the engineers that took part in the stable from Faenza. Miguel Angel Guerra, the first driver who raced under the colors of the Minardi Team in Formula 2, the Italians, Paolo Barilla, Giancarlo Fisichella, Giovanni Lavaggi, Pier Luigi Martini, Gianni Morbidelli, Jarno Trulli, Matteo Bobbi and Thomas Biagi, the Brazilian Tarso Marques, and the Spanish Adrian Campos and Sala Luiz Perez, along with engineers Gabriele Tredozi and Aldo Costa. They all signed autographs, took pictures, answered to fan’s questions, and brought the collectors’ F1 Minardi cars on track. It was also a success the exposition “From Minardi to Torio Rosso” with 39 cars deployed for a “walk” into the “made in Faenza” Motorsport world. It began with the first F2 cars built by Gian Carlo Minardi, then the M185, the first F1 Minardi that made its debut on 5 April 1985 in Brazil and the Minardi PS05, closing with the whole Toro Rosso car selection, till the STR 10.
The first innovation for 2017 is the doubling of the days. The engines of the Historic Minardi Day will turn on on Saturday May 6 and will turn off on Sunday May 7.
“After the good feedback of June, we decided to grow with two days devoted to the Historic Minardi Day, bringing forward the event, in May. Once again, we celebrate the sports cars that wrote important pages of this sport with many Formula 1 cars and much more – Gian Carlo Minardi explains – the format remains the same. The Paddock and the pits will be open to the fans that will have the chance to touch the cars ready to go on track, and to meet up with their favorite drivers. Last year, we had many young people and I was very pleased, it was definitely a counter-trend if we think to what is happening to the F1 world championship. A significant signal”.
In the upcoming weeks, we will announce all the new features of the Historic Minardi Day. Let’s start highlighting the event on the calendar: 6 and 7 May 2017, at the Circuit of Imola– Second Edition of the Historic Minardi Day.
