F1 – Giovanni Minardi "Compliments Pastor"

FAENZA – The GP in Spain not only has seen the fifth different winner in many GPs but also the first victory of the Venezuelan driver Pastor Maldonado, thanks to whom the Frank Williams’ team has got up to the first step of the podium.

After Pastor’s win, we immediately have interviewed the Italian manager Giovanni Minardi who was the first to make Pastor Maldonado’s wish to drive a F1 car come true: “ I’m really happy about Pastor’s victory. He has finally got what I’ve always thought he could get. I was the first person who had faith in his abilities, in fact in 2005 I pushed him to drive a F1 Minardi car at Misano’s circuit. Besides the happiness for his first pole position and victory in F1, there is also a little bit of regret due to the fact he is not a pilot of mine.”
After testing a Minardi car, many different managers, more powerful than me from an economic point of view, put themselves forward and went off with him. What remains is the joy of having dealt with another young talent. My job is to find other talented young drivers and make their wishes come true, I keep on going on with it.
